Karl R. Beutner, M.D., Ph.D., has served as Anacor's Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer
since April 2005. From 2001 through 2005, Dr. Beutner was Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Dow Pharmaceutical
Sciences, an international clinical research organization and development company specializing in topical formulations
and product development. Dr. Beutner was the founder of Solano Clinical Research, a clinical research company, primarily
in dermatology and related areas, which merged with Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2001. Dr. Beutner received his B.S.
from St. Mary's College of California, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology and an M.D. from the State
University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Beutner is a board certified dermatologist and an Associate Clinical Professor
of Dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco.
